The art room has moved from Room 9 in Building A to Rooms 36 and 37 in Building D. Room 9 is now the Parent Room and we've moved in to a much larger space!
I'm looking forward to an incredible new year in an awesome new room. At some point in this school year we are supposed to have a sink installed in the art room. Our kiln will be installed as well. It will definitely be exciting times ahead! Keep an eye on this blog for news of what we are up to in the art room.
Get out your pen and your calendar! There are several family art activities coming up.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is starting a new workshop series, Art + Studio. The first one will be The Art of Nature on September 10. There will be a morning session for children 4-6 and an afternoon session for children 7-10. The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Visit www.mfah.org/families to register.
September 17 from 10 to 5 is the 15th annual Museum District Day. I love this event! 17 museums offer free admission for the day with free shuttle buses to get you around. Spend the day taking in the Houston Children's Museum, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and more. I hope I'll see you there!
Finally, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will be having a Hands-On Family Festival on Saturday, October 1st from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This is a free community celebration of HCCC's 10th anniversary. There will be craft activities, artist demos, and ice sculpting among other things. I'm hoping to be there with my grandkids. Maybe I'll see you there!
